Ramella Graniti presents Montagne 3D, a three-dimensional work obtained from a single block of Syenite granite, created using a latest generation numerical control machine.
Why Syenite? Because it is our Biella stone. The composition and hardness of this granite have favored the treasure of Biella: a very pure water that has allowed Biella to become a textile district of excellence. The granitic rocks, not releasing mineral salts, also determine the low fixed residue, giving the record the lightest water in Europe.
The project was born from Marco Ramella's desire to raise awareness of the beauty of the Biella area. Marco has always been a lover of sport and the mountains and drew inspiration from a beautiful creation of the Swiss territory exhibited in the Swiss pavilion at Expo Milan 2015.
Carrying out the work was not easy. The biggest difficulty was finding the 3D file of the mountains!! It seemed nowhere to be found. And after 1 year of research, the idea of converting a geographical map of the Biella area into a three-dimensional digital drawing was born.
How was it made? We removed material from a full piece of rock and the first tip that emerged was that of Monte Rosa. As we dug, with the diamond tips of the numerically controlled machine, the valleys and water paths took shape just like in reality.
After 180 hours of work Montagne 3D was born.
The work, measuring 150x150x30 cm, weighs 670 kg and is fixed on a 2,000 kg block of stone (which can be replaced according to any need).
Two-year period 2024 / 2025 Giro d'Italia and Alpini Gathering. When will an opportunity like this to promote our Biella area happen again?
We have created the work, now we are looking for a buyer who knows how to place it and enhance it in the right way.
